Pranayama

Has a cleansing, harmonizing, health-promoting effect.

Prana means life energy and breath at the same time
Ayama means control or steering
Pranayama means that the breath and thus also the life energy in the body can be directed.
So you can direct the energy in the body to desired places through breathing exercises.
The most common pranayama practice is alternating breathing .

Procedure:
You only change the nostril after inhaling.

A round goes like this: Always change after inhaling:
1. Picture 1: inhale on the right. Switch.
2. Picture 2: exhale and inhale on the left. Switch.
3. Picture 2: exhale on the right.

Number: At the beginning of 10 rounds in a row. More are possible later.
The same applies here: Don’t overdo it. Always stay in the comfort zone.
Then enjoy the calm and inner space for a while …

Effects:

– Invigorating and calming at the same time
– one is present inwardly and outwardly at the same time
– cleaning,
– harmonizing.
– Intuition is encouraged.
– Both halves of the brain (the intuitive and calming right half and the invigorating left
   half) werden aktiviert und harmonisiert
– Old, outdated thought structures can dissolve more easily.
– Since a lot of oxygen gets into the cells, the exercise has a general health-promoting effect
that involves all organs and all cells in the body

Advanced users have already achieved the following effects with this exercise:
I also know people who have cured seemingly incurable cancer with pranayama for 12 hours a day. I know people who have had multiple sclerosis and who did 8 hours of advanced pranayama a day who were able to reverse certain forms of multiple sclerosis. I know other things too.
But I cannot say that pranayama always helps. But I am not aware of any case where pranayama would have been harmful, provided that it is done in a way that suits one’s own body. At least the pranayama as we practice it in Yoga Vidya is definitely healthy.

Variant with inclusion of the pineal gland:
During the entire exercise, you can place your index and middle finger on the top between your eyebrows on your forehead, which specifically addresses the pineal gland. The pineal gland is responsible for intuition (expanded perception). And it is also involved in the production of the “happiness hormone” seratonin. That is why we will devote an extra page to strengthening the pineal gland later.

Start:
Exhale on the right for 4 seconds, inhale on the right for 4 seconds. Switch.
Exhale on the left for 4 seconds, inhale on the left for 4 seconds. Switch.
Later, after some practice, you can double the inhalation and exhalation values.

Start exercise:
Count yourself
With 21, 22, 23 and 24 you can count the seconds internally while you do the exercises.

Variant with default counting
The exercise can also be done excellently with the breathing program.
You can close your eyes and concentrate fully inward.
